Japanese Martial Arts Centre is a traditional dojo in Royal Oak, Bagnelstown, Co. Carlow, with over 300 sq metres of tatami training space. It teaches four Japanese arts: Wado-Ryu karate, jujutsu, kenjutsu (swordsmanship) and kyujutsu (archery), with classes for children from age 6 through to adults.

Classes can be tailored to different abilities, fitness levels and learning needs, and beginners can use strike shields, headgear and gloves, while thicker jujutsu mats make throws safer.

The centre has a 35m archery range, one of the largest in Ireland, with bows and arrows supplied to students, and swordsmanship is practised with bamboo shinai and hardwood swords rather than live blades.

Led by Sensei Noel Amond (4th Dan karate, 1st Dan jujutsu and kenjutsu, 4th Dan kyujutsu), the club also runs women's self-defence and awareness training, karate gradings, and an on-site acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic.
