Dansskolan Urkraft

Dansskolan Urkraft is located in Vasastan on Sveavägen 128 and has been offering courses in African and Caribbean dance and music since 1999. The programme includes Afrobeats for beginners, Afro Fusion, Kizomba and West African dance to drums, as well as a djembe drumming course. Term courses run in scheduled periods and are complemented by open workshops, private lessons and tailored arrangements for corporate groups and private parties such as hen dos.

The atmosphere is described as warm and personal, with professional teachers and drummers with a solid background in traditional and urban African dance. The school was founded by Jenny Ajland, whose own experiences of dancing in West Africa laid the foundation for the business — a belief that African dance and rhythm is for everyone, regardless of age, experience or background. Classes are taught in Swedish.

Suitable for those who want to get started with a dance style rooted in African traditions, or who are looking for a social and inclusive environment in which to move — from those who have never danced before to those who want to deepen their knowledge of Kizomba or West African dance.
