Kusano Ha Shitoryu Stockholm

Kusano Ha Shitoryu Stockholm is a karate club practising the Shitoryu Kenpo Karate-Do style, founded by Soke Sensei Kenji Kusano in 1965. The club in Sweden was established in 1991 by Håkan Rudberg, today a 7th dan Kyoshi, and has since maintained close ties with Japan in its training. The club is affiliated with Svenska Karateförbundet and Riksidrottsförbundet, and its instructors are qualified through Svenska Budo- och Kampsportsförbundet.

The club has three training venues in the Stockholm area: in Älvsjö (Långbrodalsskolan), on Södermalm (Mariaskolan), and on Ekerö (Närlunda gymnastiksal). Training is open to both children from the age of seven and adults, and focuses on kihon, kata, and kumite. Several of the instructors have trained at the club since childhood and have at various points deepened their knowledge through training directly in Japan.

Those curious about karate are welcome to attend two trial classes free of charge before deciding on membership. Competition training is optional and there is no pressure to take part in competitive contexts. Children's groups can become fully booked, and those interested are encouraged to contact the relevant dojo in advance.
