Minakami Karate Dojo

Minakami Karate Dojo is a karate dojo located in Vasastan in Stockholm, with training sessions held in the gymnasium at Johannes skola at Roslagsgatan 61. The dojo is affiliated with the Swedish Karate Federation and practises the style Inoue-ha karate, a Japanese martial art with an emphasis on technique, discipline and community.

The club offers separate training groups for children aged 7–13 and for juniors and adults. Sessions take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with an additional Saturday session organised jointly with the other Inoue-ha clubs in Stockholm at Hersby Gymnasium on Lidingö. Beginners are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the term.

The instructor team is led by Shihan Per-Ola Olsson, founder of the dojo and holder of 8th dan, together with several senseis with backgrounds in competitive karate at national and international level. These include Sensei Fredrik Ålander, 6th dan and international referee within the EKF, as well as Sensei Zhir Karem and Sensei Mattias Matti, both of whom have Swedish Championship medals to their name. The dojo also has a junior instructor, Signe Stråle, who won a silver medal at the 2024 Swedish Championships.
