Okamura Karatedojo

Okamura Karatedojo is a karate club located in Lidingö, affiliated with the international organisation Inoue-ha Shito-ryu Keishin-kai. The style was founded by Soke Yoshimi Inoue in Tottori on the west coast of Japan and is today practised in around thirty countries. The Swedish branch is led by Shihan Per-Ola Olsson, who has been building up the organisation in Sweden since the 1980s. The club offers training for children, juniors and adults, with a focus on technical precision, coordination and discipline.

Training takes place at several venues in Lidingö: on Mondays in the gymnasium at Klockargårdens skola, on Wednesdays in the sports hall at Källängens skola, and on Saturdays in the sports hall at Hersby gymnasium. The timetable includes separate sessions for children and parents, junior groups, and open training for adults. Each term concludes with a grading in which students demonstrate their skills and can advance through the belt system, with diplomas issued from Japan.

The club maintains a safe and respectful environment with clear budo-ethical guidelines. Competition is available in the disciplines of kata and kumite for those who are interested, but it is entirely possible to train solely for wellbeing and personal development. The term fee is 1 500 kronor for children up to thirteen years of age and 1 800 kronor for juniors and adults.
