Waterford has four Brazilian jiu-jitsu studios, split evenly between two neighbourhoods: Ballybeg South and Poleberry. In Ballybeg South, Ganbaru Jiu Jitsu Academy - Waterford and Black Eagle Dojo both hold a 5.0 rating from members. Poleberry is home to Checkmat Jiu Jitsu Waterford, which carries the same score, along with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy - Luvezuti BJJ Team. Checkmat is one of the better-known international team names in the sport, so its presence in a city of this size is notable. With only four options, the choice usually comes down to location, team affiliation and class timetable rather than sheer volume. Each studio below is listed with its area and rating, so you can compare them quickly and decide which is practical to reach before booking a first session.
