Galway Shotokan Karate Club is a community-based, non-profit karate club founded in 1984 by Sensei Greg Cotter and run by a voluntary committee. Training takes place at St Joseph's Community Centre in Shantalla, Galway, with separate classes for children, teens, adult beginners and adult seniors.

The club is affiliated with IMAC and the IUKK under Renshi Bill Creasey, with monthly training led by Sensei Bill Creasy. Classes cover fundamental movement for kids, kihon (basics), kata and kumite, through to traditional Okinawan karate. All instructors hold recognised coaching certificates, are first-aid qualified and are trained in child-safeguarding good practice.

Members can take part in twice-yearly gradings, the 100 Kata Challenge, competitions, seminars and charity work. The club welcomes all ages and abilities, and classes are taught in English in a safe, friendly environment focused on fitness, personal development and fun.
