Rising Sun School of Karate has been teaching JKA Shotokan karate in Cork since 1981. Founded by Sensei Barry O'Regan (JKA 7th Dan), who trains regularly at the JKA headquarters in Tokyo, the school runs daily classes at multiple locations across the Cork area, with after-school and evening options for children and adults.

Students progress through coloured belt gradings toward black belt, building fitness, focus, balance, confidence, discipline and respect in a safe, nurturing environment. The school also takes part in national and international championships and community events around Cork.
