Capoeira Angoleiros do Mar Stockholm

Capoeira Angoleiros do Mar Stockholm is a group based in Vasastan that teaches Capoeira Angola – the traditional branch of capoeira rooted in Afro-Brazilian culture. Classes are held at Birkagården on Wednesdays and Fridays from 18:30–20:00 and combine martial arts, dance and acrobatics with live music.

The format is group-oriented and culturally grounded – it is as much about understanding the art form as it is about moving the body. Capoeira is played in pairs in what is called a jogo, an interplay rather than a competition. This means that training develops coordination, balance, mobility and fitness in a way that differs markedly from conventional martial arts instruction.

Suitable for those who want to learn a complete art form – not just self-defence – and who enjoy training in a social and cultural context.
