Exeter School of Tai Chi Chuan teaches traditional Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, a Chinese martial art renowned for its health and fitness benefits. Founded by Tom Collingridge and Helen Kingdon, the school has followed the teachings of Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang since 2000 and more recently also trains with his nephew Master Chen Ziqiang.

Weekly in-person classes are held at St Thomas Centre, Exeter, covering all levels including beginners. Classes develop strength, flexibility, co-ordination, relaxation and balance while training the mind to become calm and focused.

The school also offers a free Tai Chi for Mental Wellbeing session on Tuesdays, outreach to care homes and community groups, and private one-to-one tuition. All three instructors — Tom, Helen and Jessica — are experienced practitioners registered with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.
