Origin MMA Academy (also known as Checkmat Essex) is a professional martial arts academy in Rainham, Essex, offering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, No-Gi/Wrestling and kids' classes.

Led by head coach Spencer Hewitt — a retired pro MMA fighter and 3rd-degree Checkmat black belt under world champion Ricardo Vieira — the academy caters to all levels from complete beginners to competitive athletes. Members benefit from access to all classes plus a free gym membership covering weights and cardio.

The academy has produced multiple IBJJF European Championship medallists, including gold medals at children's level in 2025.
