South Gloucestershire Karate Club

South Gloucestershire Karate Academy, operating under the Nishinihon Karate Association, is a family-friendly, not-for-profit karate club based in the Patchway and Thornbury area of South Gloucestershire. Founded by Sensei Ivor Thomas (7th Dan Black Belt), the club predominantly trains in the Wado-Ryu style of karate, covering all aspects including self-defence.

Classes are open to everyone from age five regardless of age, sex, ability or fitness level. The association is a member of the English Karate Federation and the British Karate Federation, which is recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Twelve black belts train with the association, ranging from 1st to 7th Dan, and all instructors are fully insured and DBS checked.

Gradings take place every 3–4 months across nine Kyu belt colours below black belt.
