Backwell Judo Club has been running since 1989 and now trains at St Francis Primary School in Nailsea. The club offers six classes per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the style of Kyushindo Judo, catering to children from age five through to adults.

Students develop break-falling, throwing, groundwork, competition, teaching and kata skills, with a strong emphasis on respect, self-discipline, etiquette, confidence, safety and leadership.
