Gymophobics Colchester is a ladies-only health and fitness centre that has been welcoming women of all ages since 2007. Owned by Clare, the centre is built around Gymophobics' unique trademarked Resisted Tension (RT) programme — a combination of isometric muscle contractions and resistance exercise performed on specially designed machines.
There are no treadmills, weights or mirrors; instead, qualified instructors accompany members throughout every session, offering personalised programmes and ongoing encouragement. Digital classes filmed by founder Donna Hubbard are also available as a fun add-on after a gym session.
The warm, non-intimidating environment is designed to support women in improving their physical fitness, mental wellbeing, mobility and overall confidence.
