Halifax Sport Karate is Calderdale's most successful martial arts club, established in 2005 by Sensei Matt Handley, 5th Dan black belt and Calderdale Coach of the Year 2013. Based in Triangle, Sowerby Bridge, the club teaches Kempo Karate, BJJ, and Catch Wrestling to members aged 3 to over 70.
Affiliated with the WKF, BKF, and EKF, the club is home to English, British, and international champions, and offers family classes, beginner programmes, and a welcoming inclusive environment where all instructors are DBS checked and first aid trained.
