JKA Shotokan Ireland is a traditional Shotokan karate organisation affiliated directly to the Japan Karate Association headquarters in Tokyo. Its honbu dojo is based at the YMCA on Aungier Street in Dublin city centre, with affiliated clubs across the country. Technical direction comes from Sensei Masao Kawasoe, 8th Dan JKA, working with senior Irish JKA instructors.

Classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm and Saturdays at 11am, and visitors are welcome to drop in and watch. Beginners are welcome: a 6-8 week introductory programme leads to a first grading, with all instruction and gradings led by experienced senior instructors.
