Social Yoga is a community-led yoga and pilates studio located near the Hertford Union Canal on the Fish Island side of Hackney Wick. Founded by Brian James Gill — yoga teacher, father, and long-time community practitioner — the studio was built on the belief that movement should be accessible, human, and rooted in real life.
Classes include Vinyasa, Pilates, Restorative Sound Bath, and Strength & Flow, alongside workshops, sound journeys, and community events. Social Yoga welcomes people of all levels and backgrounds, with dedicated sessions for children, pregnant women, parent-and-baby groups, women-only classes, and the LGBTQ+ community.
The studio is known for its warm, non-competitive atmosphere — a place where people stay to talk after class and where a genuine sense of belonging sits naturally alongside the practice.

Pilates or yoga: which one should you choose?
