The best boxing gyms and studios in London 2026
Nine London boxing gyms with real coaching, real ratings and an open door for beginners — picked from 111 rated boxing listings across the capital.

London has more boxing than anywhere else in the country, and almost none of it looks like the film. We list 173 boxing gyms and studios in London, of which 111 carry at least ten Google reviews and 75 of those are rated 4.8 or higher — a quality floor high enough that "well reviewed" on its own tells you nothing. So we sorted on what the gyms actually do.
How we picked
We started with every non-chain boxing listing in London, kept the ones with a meaningful review base, then read the descriptions and cut four groups:
- Personal-training services with no room of their own — good coaches, but you cannot drop into a class.
- White-collar promoters who hire a venue for a fight night and sell the eight-week build-up as a product.
- Council leisure-centre operators, where the listing is the umbrella brand rather than the gym you would walk into.
- Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA academies where boxing is a side class rather than the discipline. Two strong ones are noted at the bottom.
What is left is nine gyms with their own space, their own coaches and a beginner route in. They are ordered by review strength.
The nine
1. City Boxing Camp — Stratford, E15. 4.9 from 263 reviews, the deepest review base on this list by some margin. It started as boxing classes in East London parks and grew into a full programme of group classes, personal training, youth sessions and structured courses. High-energy rather than austere; new customers get 25% off a first session with the code on the listing.
2. Bil Sha Boxing Club — King's Cross, N1. 4.9 from 183 reviews. The most central serious gym in the list, and one of the few that genuinely spans the range: group classes for people who have never worn wraps, through to competitive amateurs and professionals, plus juniors and dedicated sparring sessions. Hand-picked coaches, modern kit.
3. Relentless Boxing London — Hackney, E8. 5.0 from 138 reviews. Founded on the idea that technique comes first, with the timetable split into fundamentals, skills, fitness and technical sparring so you can see the progression rather than guess at it. Coaches are qualified professionals who still compete. The beginner programme bundles a month of unlimited Fundamentals and Perform classes with gloves and wraps, which removes the usual first-month kit problem.
4. Storm LDN Boutique Boxing — Queen's Park / Brondesbury, NW6. 4.9 from 115 reviews. Non-contact boutique boxing with the finish of a premium studio, and a social enterprise underneath it: a large share of profits funds the Storm LDN Academy, which coaches and mentors young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Best pick in North West London if you want the boutique experience without the ego.
5. FighterFit Boxing Gym — Shoreditch / Dalston, E8. 4.9 from 104 reviews. Explicitly built for people who never saw themselves as boxers: technique, bag work, partner drills and conditioning in a zero-ego room, six days a week, booked through the gym's own app. Beginner taster sessions run at fixed slots each week and must be booked ahead.
6. Afewee Boxing Gym & Football Academy — Brixton, SW9. 4.9 from 102 reviews. A Brixton institution founded in 1997, affiliated to England Boxing, running everything from BoxFit and kids' sessions to girls-only classes and a competitive pathway that has produced professional alumni. Community gym in the truest sense — turn up, be useful, get coached.
7. Clinton McKenzie's Boxing & Fitness Club — Camberwell, SE5. 4.9 from 94 reviews. Run by an Olympic finalist and two-time Lonsdale Belt winner who is still on the pads. The flagship session works through warm-up, shadowboxing, bag work and pads with Clinton himself, and there is a structured amateur competition route for anyone who catches the bug. Walk-in classes, no membership required.
8. 12 Rounds Boxing Gym — Clapham Junction, SW11. 4.9 from 89 reviews. Founded by Kat, who started boxing at 32 and was competing at 36 — which tells you everything about who this gym is for. Conditioning classes, technical classes, kids' boxing, women-only sessions and a white-collar fight pathway if you want a date in the diary. Only 24 of London's boxing listings mention women's or girls' classes at all; this is one of the better ones.
9. BLAST Fit — Ealing, W5. 5.0 from 61 reviews and the strongest option in West London. Founded by professional coach Matt Hirst, with a well-graded timetable: BoxBlast for beginners, PowerBox as the flagship, MegaBLAST for conditioning, and a Chess Boxing class that is exactly what it sounds like. Junior boxing runs for ages 7–15.
Honourable mention
Paragon Gym in Shoreditch is rated 5.0 from 207 reviews — better numbers than anything above — but it is kickboxing-led, with boxing as the second discipline, so it sits outside a straight boxing list. If striking with feet appeals, it runs structured beginner courses and a free first class, and you can see the rest of the field on the London Muay Thai page.
Before you book
Most gyms lend gloves for a first session but expect you to buy your own wraps quickly — they are cheap, and shared gloves are grim. Nobody will make you spar; only 17 of London's boxing listings mention sparring at all, and every one of them treats it as opt-in after months of technique. Wear trainers you can pivot in, arrive ten minutes early to get wrapped, and expect the first class to be far more skipping and shadowboxing than punching.
86 of the 173 London boxing gyms we list run something for first-timers — a free trial, a discounted first session or a beginners' course — so there is rarely a reason to pay full price to find out whether a room suits you. The current ones are on the UK offers page, and the full list is on the London boxing page.
If you are weighing boxing against something calmer, yoga styles explained covers the other end of the spectrum, and how to choose the right fitness studio is the eight-point checklist we would run before signing anything.
