The Vanguard Centre is Glasgow's premier venue for indoor archery and historical European swordfighting (HEMA), based in a unique concrete tunnel just south of the city centre in the Gorbals. Founded in 2015 by the Academy of Historical Arts, it is the UK's first full-time venue dedicated to both disciplines.
Classes run 7 days a week, 50 weeks a year, catering to complete beginners through to experienced practitioners. Offerings include open and members' archery sessions, HEMA broadsword and sabre classes, private tuition, group bookings, and experience parties.
All equipment is provided, and the team of internationally recognised instructors are passionate about bringing historical skills and alternative sports to everyone.
