Reformer Pilates has gone from a physio''s secret to London''s most in-demand class format, and the city now has more independent studios than any other in Europe. On Studiomaps we list 127 reformer Pilates studios across London – here are the best-reviewed ones, based on real Google reviews, plus what a class actually costs at each.
London''s best-rated reformer studios
1. Sentire Pilates – Belgravia
5.0 ★ (168 reviews). Semi-private classes capped at four people on top-of-the-line equipment, just off Eccleston Place. Small-group reformer is £60 per person and privates are £150, so it sits at the premium end – but a 30-minute intro session is £30 and is the cheapest way in London to find out whether reformer suits you before committing.
2. Bootcamp Pilates – Bayswater
4.9 ★ (219 reviews). One of London''s longest-running dynamic reformer names and the most-reviewed studio on this list. Intro offer is two classes for £35 (or five for £99), with class packs from £160 for eight and a 5-class monthly membership at £110.
3. Absolute Studios – Fulham
4.9 ★ (182 reviews). A neighbourhood favourite in west London with a three-class intro at £49. Worth watching for their unlimited summer pass (£149 for the month) if you want to binge a block of classes rather than commit long term.
4. Strong Pilates Islington – Islington
4.8 ★ (162 reviews). The high-intensity end of the spectrum – reformer combined with rowing-style conditioning and a proper playlist. The seven-class intro pack at £49 is the best value trial on this page; memberships start at £92/month on a six-month term, £100/month contract-free.
5. Plum Pilates – Islington
4.9 ★ (148 reviews). Classic, well-taught reformer with transparent pricing: £28 drop-in, £45 for a new-client three-class pack, and packs down to £22 a class if you buy ten. Memberships run £100–£262/month depending on volume.
6. Flowing Body Pilates – Stamford Hill
4.9 ★ (124 reviews). North-east London''s standout. Three-class intro for £49, then packs of five (£130), ten (£245) or twenty (£450) with generous expiry windows – useful if you train in bursts rather than every week.
7. Pilates Near – Newington Green
5.0 ★ (121 reviews). Founded in 2019 by a former national athlete, this small studio pairs reformer with sports massage. It is the only studio on the list offering a free one-to-one introductory reformer lesson, which makes it an obvious first stop for complete beginners.
8. Ten Health & Fitness – Hatton Garden
4.8 ★ (91 reviews). Reformer with physiotherapy under the same roof – the right choice if you are coming back from injury or want clinical input alongside your classes. Three-class intro £57, memberships from £110/month.
9. Core Flex Pilates – Chelsea
5.0 ★ (85 reviews). Founded in 2019 just off Fulham Road, focused on small groups and privates with a lot of technique correction. Three-class intro £75.
10. Out of the Box Reformer Studio – Holloway
5.0 ★ (54 reviews). Run by an instructor with more than 30 years of teaching and a dance background, built around the idea that reformer should not be repetitive. The three-class intro pack (£49) never expires.
What reformer Pilates actually is
A reformer is a sliding carriage on rails with adjustable spring resistance. Instead of using your own bodyweight against the floor, you work against – and with – the springs, which lets a teacher scale the same exercise from rehab-gentle to genuinely hard.
A typical 45–50 minute class runs footwork on the carriage, then legs and glutes, then core and upper body, and finishes with stretching. Classes are usually capped somewhere between four and twelve reformers, which is why it costs more than a mat class and why the teaching is far more hands-on.
Two broad styles dominate London. Classical and contemporary studios (Sentire, Core Flex, Plum) work slowly and precisely, with strong emphasis on alignment. Dynamic reformer (Bootcamp Pilates, Strong Pilates) keeps the tempo and heart rate up and feels closer to a conditioning class. Neither is better – but trying one and deciding reformer "isn''t for you" is a common mistake when the other style would have landed.
What it costs in London
Prices come from the studios'' own published rates, and the pattern across the city is consistent:
- Intro offers: £25–£75 for two or three classes. This is where every beginner should start – you are paying roughly half the drop-in rate.
- Drop-in: typically £24–£30 a class.
- Class packs: around £20–£26 per class once you buy ten or more.
- Memberships: roughly £92–£110/month for four to five classes a month; £180–£200/month for unlimited or high-volume plans.
Central and west London (Belgravia, Chelsea, Mayfair) run at the top of those ranges; north, east and south London studios sit lower for equivalent class sizes.
Great studios outside Zone 1
London''s reformer boom has spread well past the centre. Reform Room Pilates in Muswell Hill (5.0 ★) runs a summer intro of three classes for £39; Innerform Pilates in Lewisham (5.0 ★) bundles reformer, mat, barre and yoga into one membership with a £33 intro; and Studio East in Snaresbrook (5.0 ★, 137 reviews) offers over 60 classes a week across reformer, mat, yoga and barre.
Before your first class
Wear leggings or fitted shorts and bring grip socks – almost every studio requires them and most sell them at reception if you forget. Arrive ten to fifteen minutes early so the teacher can set your springs, footbar and headrest, and tell them about any injuries before you start rather than mid-class. Book a beginner or "fundamentals" slot if the timetable has one; a mixed-level dynamic class is a rough introduction to the machine.
